The North Coast
The North Coast consists of two counties; Humboldt and Del Norte. There are many communities on the North Coast; only a few are listed below.

The North Coast is also known as the “Lost Coast” due to its geographic location. In the last few hundred years, while the rest of the United States was being mapped out, the geography somewhat prevented it from being found out. Humboldt Bay is the only deep-water port between San Francisco and Coos Bay, Oregon. The coast between these two locations can be treacherous to ships and the small mouth or opening to the bay prevented it from being located historically.
Our area is famous for its State and National Parks, and redwood forests, as well as many miles of beach for hiking, bird watching, boating and other outdoor activities.
The climate on the North Coast is varied. You can go from the mild coastal climate to the sun-lovers temperatures above 100 degrees. The North Coast has something for everyone.
Here are a few annual averages for the North Coast. As these are “averages” the locations may have higher or lower temperatures during the summer or winter.
