About Ferndale

The Victorian Village of Ferndale is on the coast of Northern California nestled against verdant hills and flanked by the Eel River. About 250 miles North of San Francisco, the small town of Ferndale boasts a lively population of less than 1,500.

Ferndale has an exceptional elementary school, grades K-8, and a Calfornia Distinguished high school with fewer than 200 students. Nearby College of the Redwoods and Humboldt State University provide higher educational opportunities as well as a vast array of cultural events and activities.

Enjoy the beautifully preserved Victorian architecture, dine in one of our many restaurants, visit our art galleries and shops, or see our thriving dairy industry… we are known as a "cow town!"

Some activities to do around our town are beachcombing on Centerville Beach, boating on the Eel River Delta, visiting the Humboldt Bay National Wildlife Refuge, seeing the views from our centuries old cemetery, picnicking in Fireman's Park or hiking in Russ Park.
